Why do we do what we do?

Hey friends,

Why do we do what we do? Why do we have to go to school? Why do we try so hard in life? I've been pondering on this question throughout the week as I looked at the 3/20 on my math test.

Why do I try so hard at school when I don't even do that well? Well, this can apply to anything. We try hard because we want to improve. I run because I want to get better.

So whenever you guys get a bad grade or make a mistake of any kind, don't think about it as a failure, think about it as a learning opportunity. Your mistakes are where you learn the most valuable lessons.

With every mistake, you will only get better. Each one will equip you with the knowledge necessary to be prepared the next time the same situation pops up.

So next time you feel down, remember, don't feel bad, you can only go up from here.

Have a great week,

Keaton

🔆 Highlights This Week

  • Got 94th out 218 runners in a huge meet sponsored by Nike. Beat my previous time from freshman year by 2 minutes and 35 seconds. It was super crowded especially at the beginning but I'll take a PR(personal record) any day!

  • Getting a little bit better at oxyacetylene welding in my metal working class. Getting a good weld for two pieces of metal is a lot hard than I thought.

  • Got the Cycling Merit Badge in Boy Scouts.

  • Ted Talk - Watched this great talk, How Great Leaders Inspire Action, that really got me thinking how we can inspire others. It's all about why we do what we do and not just the what. Go watch if you haven't already!

  • Podcast - The Dropout. This is episode 1 in a series about the notorious Elizabeth Holmes. It's both scary and amazing how Holmes was able to convince the world to believe in her lies. You can find this series on apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

  • App - Found this cool app called 1 Second Everyday. You basically record 1 second every day of your life and after awhile you look back at all the snippets you took in one large video and it looks very cool. App is available on both iOS and Android.
